This will forever be the year that changed weddings, the ideals of huge parties, elaborate celebrations and crowds of people have been forced to a halt. And whilst big weddings are missed, smaller weddings having their well deserved time in the spotlight is one really extra special element to come out of this experience.
Sophie and Chris had originally planned their perfect day only for everything to be taken out of their hands overnight, they rescheduled their celebrations for some day in the future but in the mean time…they simply could not wait to tie the knot!
In true 2020 style they were never truly sure their new wedding ceremony would actually go ahead until a couple of days previous. I myself too was eagerly waiting for news that this lovely couple were able to have the day they deserved. As Liverpool was announced as a tier 2 city, it was official, Sophie & Chris were getting married!!!
I travelled to the Pullman Hotel were they were both getting ready with their closest family and friends, there was a calm atmosphere and a certain lovely contentment in the air. From there we travelled to St Georges Hall, where Sophie was met near her car by a (socially distanced & masked up) gathering of loved ones, she was greeted like a star on a red carpet before taking to the iconic steps arm in arm with her dad.
The ceremony was intimate, sweet and wholesome. A toss of confetti outside and some formal photographs later the sun started to lower in the sky and I made my way to meet them both and their guests at the waterfront for photos. Just in time before the sun said goodnight, the purple skies swaddled everyone as guests enjoyed little prosecco hampers and watched the sun set. And as a frequent visitor to the waterfront I can honestly say we were blessed with such a calm evening with just a slight crisp December chill.
The evening was hosted at The Art School Liverpool restaurant. A fine dining experience with wonderful interiors, an open fire and food that was divine! Here everyone enjoyed the speeches, catchups, good food and wine and generally just thoroughly enjoyed being in each others loving company.
Thank you Chris & Sophie for inviting me to be a part of your gorgeous winter wedding. I will remember this special day forever!
